Our founder, Michael Azgour, MFA, personally leads all Class Meetings and provides direct feedback on every post in the Critique Group forum.

Michael Azgour is a professional artist with over 15 years of experience exhibiting in galleries and museums. Azgour's paintings are part of prestigious collections worldwide – such as Stanford University, UC Davis Medical Center, and actor Robert Downey, Jr. He is represented by several galleries in the United States and Europe. Upcoming exhibitions include the Hong Kong Affordable Art Fair (Represented by TAG Fine Arts, May 2024), and Fresno Art Museum (Jan-Jun 2025).

Michael has 10+ years of university teaching experience and has worked with hundreds of students of all levels. He has taught painting, drawing, mixed media, and design courses at Stanford University Architectural Design, Stanford Continuing Studies, Art Institute of San Francisco, and other institutions. He delivers talks periodically in universities, conferences, and special events, such as at TEDx Krakow in 2017

Yes, the instructor will give short written feedback (a few sentences) to every member post made in the Critique Group forum, such as Project proposals, artwork in progress, completed works, as well as 28-Day Challenges, Assignments, and Exercises.

There are a number of activities which will help inspire creativity. A major goal of the group is to help artists move away from the clutter of everyday life and to create artwork on their own terms. Class Meetings, Video Demonstrations, community Forums, and resources are all designed to help you find inspiration, follow your intuition, and create personal work which you are proud of. There are several open-ended Assignments and many Exercises which can be repeated indefinitely – all optional and to be taken at your own speed and order. There are 28-Day Challenges which help you build confidence through rhythm and repetition. These focus on taking you out of your comfort zone in order to provoke creativity and perhaps, to help you discover the next step in your creative journey. And, lot’s more…

Currently we have about 75 members and are growing slowly. The plan is to grow our group steadily to bring fresh energy into the space while keeping the personal, authentic feeling of the group in tact.

New members are welcome to join anytime, regardless of the calendar. We have three terms per year which begin in January, May, and September.

Not at this time. Azgour Art Group is currently open to all artists working in any 2D or 3D medium. Starting Jan 1, 2026, we will be introducing an application process for prospective members.

If you don’t see meaningful growth in your art-making process and the quality of your work within a few months, we’ll refund your last month and the remainder of your subscription. No questions asked.
