Painting the landscape with divisions and geometry is how I represent an ever-changing visual world. While spending time painting outside, I notice how the light will shift, the clouds change shape, colors alter and people move about. My hope is to convey a feeling of balance that is also shifting. Finding this type of composition takes many iterations on paper, both drawing and painting. Once the visual organization feels right and I step into acrylic paint in canvas, I can fly free with expressive color, paint application, and shape finding.

I fell in love with landscape painting while studying fine arts at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Continuing this journey, I've tried many different mediums and found that acrylic paint gives me the vibrant colors I am after and the flexibility to shift and alter the image.
