Kathy Francescini
I find inspiration from my travels around the world, as well as my frequent treks through nature in Northern California. I love the freedom and interpretation that abstraction provides to the viewer. I create many layers in each of my paintings, often with intricate marks and bold brush strokes. The paintings make bold statements at a distance but on closer inspection, they have small surprise elements to keep the paintings fresh and interesting. I hope that my viewers find energy and excitement in the captivating allure of my color palettes.
My favorite mediums are acrylic, oil, oil sticks, watercolor and graphite on canvas, panels and paper. I use my own photo images in photoshop as inspiration to design creative studies and color palettes for imaginative paintings. My favorite artists include Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Mitchell and Flora Yukhnovich.
I have always enjoyed art and have made it part of my life since I was a child. I have a BS in Business Adm. From Fresno State university and a painting degree from De Anza Community College. I am also working on a photography degree at Foothill Community College. I have taken additional art courses from Stanford Continuing Studies, Penn Studio School of Art and the Pacific Art League as well as private instruction from individual artists. I am an active member of the Azgour Art Group in San Francisco, a dynamic community of artists from around the world, as well as the Pacific Art League.
